Why Dru Yoga? What does Dru Mean? Where can I find a Class? One to Ones?
Dru is the still point, the North star, something to cherish and aim for in our practice.
Yoga has been a part of my life for over 40 years. Studying various forms and even embarking on the British Wheel of Yoga teacher training. Leaving it because I felt something was missing and eventually finding it whilst at the Allergy Show in London in 2015 where I was looking to improve my knowledge on Gluten free cooking for the classes I teach.
I found Dru there too, as a qualified Dru Yoga teacher. Classes are now 1-1 n my garden studio phone or message me Mobile. 07974351113 Land Line 01670 642164 via the contact page to discuss your own special requirements, This may also include learn how to Meditate.I now offer the 6 week Dru Yoga Back care Course in my own dedicated space with handouts and homework to help you. See below for more information.
Dru Yoga is the only form of Yoga that concentrates on the five energy centres in and around our the body, it has a deep mind, body, Spirit connection.
As an Energy healer Dru Yoga encompasses this, it also has many more flowing sequences than other forms as a lady who loves to move and dance - this is ideal I feel I can enhance your Yoga practice because I am an energy healer so bring this in to enhance your practice.
The Indian system of the 5 Koshas simply put, think of circles radiating out from our physical bodies:
The physical body called the Annamaya Kosha - how we act in this world. Dealing with everything in our physical body.
The Pranamaya Kosha physiological layer Prana the breath, encasing the Annamaya kosha.
The Manomaya Kosha our layer of emotion and feeling it is believed that is here our thoughts are turned into actions.
Vijnamaya Kosha implements our thoughts and actions.
Anandamaya Kosha where all thoughts originate also known as the blissful sheath. The causal body subtle body believed to be where all thoughts come from to direct our lives.
As a student of Tai Chi I feel there are also cross overs with this style of Yoga.
I came to this style from 8 years of being a carer totally unfit care worn and looking to get back my joy de vivre. This definitely fitted the bill

Dru Yoga Class Structure
The Dru Yoga Class lasts for One Hour and consists of 45 minutes of limbering up the body, initial activations to warm the body up and bring yourself into the space. Followed by 'energy block release' which is a group of flowing movements which work through the whole body removing blocks within the energetic system. Yoga Asanas are next where we will move into postures such as the 'flowing tree' which connects your root chakra to the earth and realigns your chakras to the sky to be in balance. Followed by working on specific areas of the body and flowing sequences to align you with the spiritual energies. Working on the breath 'Pranayama' for relaxation we move onto a Dru Yoga asana then another flowing form followed by 15 minutes total body and mind relaxation.
I provide some Yoga mats and blankets and belts as part of the class, you are of course more than welcome to bring your own plus a blanket and cushion for the relaxation.

FAQ's
What do I need to bring/wear?
Please wear comfy clothes that are easy to move around in, most people wear jogging bottoms/leggings and a t-shirt or sports top. You can also bring a Yoga mat and blanket which you will use as part of the class, if you don't have your own, please don't worry as I always bring spare sets. I'd also recommend bringing a water bottle in case you get thirsty during or after the class.
What is the class etiquette?
Before you join me for your first Dru Yoga Class here are a few helpful tips for you to get the most out of your experience:
- For your first class please arrive 10 minutes early, there is a short questionnaire to fill out before we start that will help me to understand how to best support your journey with Dru Yoga.
- On subsequent classes I encourage you to arrive early so that you can enjoy a few minutes of quiet time and are ready to start the class in the right head space.
- After your first class if you are a few minutes late please don't worry - we've all been there! Please join the group quietly and join in with the flowing movements.
- Please switch your mobile phone to silent before you enter the class.
- People within the class attend for a variety of reasons, many are looking for a place that provides them with an oasis of calm in a hectic week. Please respect this by treating the class as a friendly, sacred space.
- Dru Yoga is a flowing form of Yoga and (injuries permitting) you will be bending and stretching, it is best not to wear jewellery that will cause you discomfort or crash together and cause a noise that will disturb the rest of the class.
- Hold yourself and your body in the highest regard. What do I mean by this? When starting or returning to Dru Yoga it is easy to start having an internal monologue with yourself thinking "I should be able to bend further / do more". Dru Yoga is about honouring you as a sacred being and supporting your bodies journey to flow and move. Please think of your journey with Dru Yoga as a gentle summer stroll, an enjoyable experience that you can't wait to return to!
- Please keep your belongings in a tidy space, it is important that there are no tripping hazards for yourself or others.
